Vikarabad Adventure Overview
The hill forests of Ananthagiri are a delight for first time trekkers as well as more experienced ones. This famous range of hills can be found nearly six kilometers away from Vikarabad, a city in Rangreddy. This hill range is one of Andhra Pradesh's most beloved retreats.
From a two-hour hike to a three-day expedition, Ananthagiri Hills are safe for exploring on your own. The forests may be thick, but they don't run so deep that they pose a safety threat to inexperienced trekkers. The main reason for dense forests in an otherwise arid Andhra Pradesh is the River Musi, and the fact that it originates around here.
There are two identified trekking trails that you can begin with. The first trail starts from Anantha Padmanabah Swamy Temple and the second, from half a kilometer away in the direction of Kareli.
The drive to this trek's starting point has sunflower fields and wonderful grassland all along the way. While trekking here, make it point to scout out the ancient caves that have been here for centuries. The bathing ghats are another destination that is definitely worth a visit.
